Excerpts from http://iriseducation.org Centralized Client Tools Over the years, we've done our best to be as responsive as possible in providing information to our clients. As we have continued to grow, it has become increasingly difficult to stay on top of this important service that we happily provide. With more data, and more clients asking, we've created this new client-centric website that makes the most frequently requested information immediately available to you, with virtually zero wait time! While many requests from our clients do, and will continue to, require dedicated time and attention, many standard requests, and generally useful information has now been made instantly available to you, our client. New Website With Client-Controlled Access All the tools are now located at the new IRIS website, though not everyone can access all the information - each of our Clients can decide who in their organization can see which There are 3 distinct sets of tools: * Statistical - These are the charts/graphs and spreadsheets of the streaming media use * Media - If you are using the DMA, then the cataloged meta data and relationships about the media we are hosting for you is visible. This also includes non-DMA information extracted from the files themselves, such as encoding date, and audio track information. * Billing/Accounting - Currently only Disk Storage, but will contain any accounting tools that are added to the site for you. Update Service As significant changes or additions are made to the our products and services, IRIS will publish a page similar to this one about the change(s). The Updater Services allows each user to stay informed about the changes we make by sending an email to each of our Clients. But don't worry, we won't spam you with silly information, and opting out of the service is as simple as a click after you log into your account. Streaming Media Statistics Each of our many Streaming Servers logs all the video events of a streaming session. Each night, our Statistics Server summarizes all those transactions into a usable statistics database that our new charting tools draws upon to give you up-to-date charts and spreadsheets of how your media is being used. These stats include various totals, percentages and totals for any date range since January 2009 (over 55 _million_ video events). For detailed information about the Streaming Statistics, check this article http://iriseducation.org/client-news/1086-on-demand-streaming-statistics. Statistics Labs IRIS is expecting to expand the selection of statistics tools and data. Because of the enormous amount of data and complexities of providing this information, we've designated a special area to "try out" new charts and spreadsheets while we work out the kinks without interfering with information that you come to count on. This area of the site uses the same statistical database that the "live" stats do, it's just new charts and tools that will be there. Disk Usage At the end of each month, our Statistics Servers do an inventory of all the files that are stored on our servers. This new tool not only makes this process faster, easier, and more accurate, but also makes the results available to you, our Client, for reconciliation and historical purposes. DMA Media File Details If your media is managed by our DMA system, then the meta data and relationships of those files is now available to you. This will be an invaluable tool for the people in your organization that are responsible for media encoding to know _exactly_ which files are in use on our servers and being served to your users. To understand more about the DMA Delivery System, read this article http://iriseducation.org/client-news/1094-what-is-dma Project & Work Items With many of our Clients, we have an ongoing development and service agreements. For fre and easy management with cross-platform access, the work items that are agreed upon are kept in Google Documents http://docs.google.com. If you are already a Google user, you will appreciate the ease and extensibility of these collaboration products, and if you're not, this is a great opportunity for you to give them a try - they're FREE! IRIS Glossary As in all organizations, certain terms have certain meanings in regard to their products and services. We have created the IRIS glossary that clearly defines what these terms are as they pertain to the services that we offer to you. Some terms may seem obvious, such as "catalog", but a term such as that will have a very specific reference as we build and deploy products for you, and it is our aim to have everyone "talking the same language" in these matters.
